Compassionate person-centered ABA training, coaching, and consultation services
At Prism, our mission is to provide compassionate, neurodiversity-affirming ABA therapy that centers the autonomy and individuality of each client. We are committed to promoting disability advocacy and embracing intersectionality, recognizing the diverse backgrounds and perspectives of every person we work with. With a trauma-informed approach, we create a safe and supportive environment that empowers clients and their families to thrive. Our core values of respect, inclusion, and collaboration guide every aspect of our practice, ensuring that every individual is treated with dignity and care.
Welcome! I’m Nisha, the founder of Prism Behavioral Consulting. I started this practice with a commitment to providing neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based, and person-centered Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. My approach is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Relational Frame Theory (RFT), with a strong emphasis on supporting individuals in a way that respects and honors their unique experiences.
At PBC, we understand that neurodivergence intersects with many aspects of identity, including culture, race, gender, and socioeconomic background. We are committed to providing services that are not only inclusive but also mindful of these intersections, recognizing that each person’s experience is shaped by a variety of factors. Our goal is to support neurodivergent individuals in a way that honors their whole selves and helps them thrive in a complex and diverse world.
We offer training and consulting services to neurodivergent individuals (including those with ASD, ADHD, DD, ID, ODD, and more), as well as their families, clinicians, and organizations. Our focus is on helping individuals achieve meaningful goals that enable them to access the things that matter most to them and their families. We work collaboratively to support growth in areas such as:
Self-care and adaptive daily living skills
Establishing boundaries (Public vs. Private)
Consent and social media/internet safety
Coping and self-regulation skills
Sexual education and safety
Early learner foundational skills
At Prism Behavioral Consulting, we believe in creating a more inclusive and accessible world for all, where neurodivergent individuals are supported in a way that respects their full identities. We look forward to working together to help individuals thrive, honoring both their uniqueness and the intersectional aspects of who they are.
What is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically grounded approach that focuses on understanding and shaping behavior by examining observable actions and the environmental factors that influence them. ABA uses targeted strategies to promote positive behavioral change, with a personalized support plan that outlines specific skills to focus on and proactive and reactive strategies for growth.
Incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), ABA also emphasizes psychological flexibility, helping individuals accept difficult thoughts and emotions while committing to actions that align with their values. This integrated approach fosters both behavioral growth and emotional well-being, ensuring a holistic, person-centered support plan.
Does my child need an evaluation to begin services?
A diagnosis or evaluation is not needed to begin services if private pay or JPHSA services are chosen. If the family has medicaid, the funder will require the individual receiving services to have an autism or ADHD diagnosis. Currently, most funders only cover services if an autism diagnosis is given.
What is the location of services?
Sessions will be held via teletherapy, in-home, school, and in the community (when appropriate). Group and 1:1 sessions may also take place at the office location in Kenner, LA. After an initial consultation, the family and BCBA can decide what location of services will work best. Location of services is also subject to the BCBA’s availability.
What is the process?
If Louisiana Medicaid or private insurance is the payment option, the BCBA (after confirming with the family that they would like to move forward with an evaluation) will put in a request for the evaluation from the insurance company. Once this request is approved and received, which is usually within two weeks, the behavior analyst will reach out to schedule an assessment. Following the assessment, the BCBA will write a report and a request for services, then submit it to the insurance company. This also takes about two weeks. If private pay is chosen, the process will be similar but expedited as documents and authorizations will not have to be filtered through the insurance company.
“Clothe all your students with grace and dignity and observe…”
“As behavior analysts, we have the opportunity — and the responsibility— to approach our work with humility, empathy, and a commitment to truly understanding those we serve. The time has come to move beyond rigid defenses of our practices and instead focus on building meaningful, person-centered relationships.”
Dr. Megan, Do Better Collective
“Engaging in trauma responsive and culturally safe practices means more than just focusing on those needs of our clients. It means we are fully cognizant and responsive to our own culture and levels of trauma.”
